I was in the area for 2 nights on business. I have stopped here once before, so I had no hesitation in booking again. What more can I say than, the rooms are clean and good to stop in, the food at breakfast and evening meals are really good, and the staff are excellent and friendly. I will definitely be staying here again.

I was really shocked about the grim state of the standard rooms at the Holiday Inn, Washington, Newcastle upon Tyne. Hands down the worst hotel room ever stayed in. Hopefully there are plans to refurbish them. I can’t actually believe they charge money to stay here! Stains on towels, stains on lamp furnishings, painted bath with the paint all peeling off, mould in the grout, ripped bed surrounds, Smokey smell. YUK. If you can, avoid this hotel or ask if they have refurbished rooms. Sadly the hotel was full and I couldn’t change rooms.

Stayed over for 1 night in April with family. Pros: One nice lady on reception and the maintenance man was cheery. Childrens 'wish' is a lovely idea. Cons: Issue with heater in the bedroom banging constantly from 4am so we didnt get a good night sleep before a long journey. No response to my feedback I sent when I was emailed asking if I would rate our stay 10/10, was more 4/10.

We would definitely stay here again. Our room and bed were a decent size with a nice clean bathroom. Dirty towels/bins were changed, bed remade and tea and coffee topped up daily too. Breakfast was a good selection and much more choice than when we stayed at the holiday inn in Stoke on Trent so we were happy. It's in a good location for exploring the area. We were attending a tournament at the beacon of light and could easily get there in 15 mins. Staff very friendly

Great hotel. Clean, smart and friendly. Great price. Only thing that let this hotel down was the room service. Around 2am we ordered two soft drinks and a bottle of water. We ordered using the QR code in the room which all seemed fine. About an hour later nothing had arrived so we had to call reception. They apologised and said they would do it immediately. About 15 mins later they rang asking for payment. The QR code had offered the option to carve it to the room so we had selected that. The staff member said it needed to be paid. He didn’t offer any options eg cash, card machines to come to room etc….we ended up suggesting we gave card number over phone and he said yes and at around 3:45an were reading card details out 🤦🏼♀️. Drinks finally arrived. Staff member was friendly so no complaints there. Aside from this it was a great stay. All areas seemed clean and staff super friendly. Breakfast was good. We will definitely return as often come to the area for one or two nights visiting elderly relative, however, we will ring our own soft drinks for during night. .
